Christmas Cheer 29

An anonymous reader writes "It's after Christmas, so what do you do with your Christmas tree? Turn it into a missile, of course! From the creators of 'Christmas Tree Rocketry: The Art and Science of Holiday Recycling' (video) comes a new epic: the flight of the XMS MissileToe."

It`s after Christmas,...

Um, no it's not there are twelve days of Christmas, it ends on the 5th of January!

Um, no it's not there are twelve days of Christmas, it ends on the 5th of January!

20th day Yule is traditionally when the tree goes down in Fennoscandia. At this point, it's still being decorated with more bags of nuts and sweets.

Christmas begins on November 1st (when retailers toss aside the Halloween decorations for the Christmas ones), continues until January 1st (when they begin to focus on Valentine's Day), and makes a brief resurgence in July. Thus, Christmas has about 92 days and takes up a quarter of the year.

Not anymore. They already will have some Christmas stuff out in September/October. The amount of Halloween stuff exceeds it until Nov 1, when all the Halloween shelves switch to Christmas stuff.

on 12/24 my local store had Mardi Gras supplies out already. And no, it was not New Years supplies.

Here's your rocketry... (-1)

Anonymous Coward | about 2 years ago | (#42433221)

In the early 1990's I got laid in the back of a Greyhound out of Corvallis Oregon, headed north. 6 passengers on the bus, had the whole ass end to our selves. There was this Korean chick giving me the eye, and when I passed her a 20, she motioned me to the back. A little "handy handy" followed by "bouncy bouncy". Ah, memories

Bambi Meets Godzilla (2)

The build up and payoff was about as satisfying as "Bambi Meets Godzilla"

I liked Bambi meets Godzilla. May the farce be with you.

Maybe he should have kept that tree around. It's still 351 days until Christmas and people already have all their lights and decorations up! Just look around. Christmas is starting super early this year!

The xmas-cet missile.

How is this recycling? (3, Insightful)

jfdavis668 (1414919) | about 2 years ago | (#42433751)

The tree is now just 100ft further out in a field. It didn't get turned into something useful.

Re:How is this recycling? (1)

Anonymous Coward | about 2 years ago | (#42433925)

I assure you the tree was briefly recycled into a short lived rocket decoration implement.
The resulting waste might need to be recycled too but that's a new problem ;-)

Re:How is this recycling? (2, Insightful)

Anonymous Coward | about 2 years ago | (#42434639)

The tree is now just 100ft further out in a field. It didn't get turned into something useful.

On Dec 26th, every "Christmas Tree" got turned into "Last Year's Christmas Tree". A few days/weeks after that, every "Last Year's Christmas Tree" got turned into "Mulch".

Unlike all the other trees that completed said transition, this tree had an intermediate stage, in which it got turned into something awesome.

Re:How is this recycling? (0)

Anonymous Coward | about 2 years ago | (#42434851)

It was 'recycled' as a rocket.

Sure it did. Now it's the neighbor's problem.

Take your tree to a mulching facility.

"new" ??? (1)

Manuka (4415) | about 2 years ago | (#42436763)

For values of "new" approaching "posted 7 months ago".

One small problem (1)

fufufang (2603203) | about a year and a half ago | (#42439241)

They still have to throw the tree itself away...
